Guido’s Letter

Dear Sister-Superior Dammerung,

I hope this letter finds you well. As discussed, we travelled to Grissenwald and looked into the discontent you mentioned. It became apparent that the source of trouble was a sorceress named Etelka Herzen. As fates have it, we had the displeasure of crossing paths with her before -in Bogenhafen- and we can account first-hand she is character of the most vile order, involved is deamonology, summoning, and the Dark Gods.

She fled Grissenwald five days prior to our arrival, and we have it in good faith that she has fled North, firstly to Kemperbad, and on to the Barren Hills via Unterbaum. She is travelling by coach, with at least one other accomplice. The reason for this, is loosely set out in the letter attached.

If my reckoning is correct, she should have arrived your city but a few days before you received this letter. There is a chance she may still be there making preparations but I think it is likely she has moved on. We are in pursuit, but five days behind.

Therefore, I would appeal to your kindness, for threefold assistance:

1. Could someone from your Order undertake research into the Barren Hills, particularly what could drive someone like Herzen to search there.

2. Could you ascertain the last known movements of Herzen? Is she still in Kemperbad or when did she leave?

3. As I note, there are agents of the Dark Gods in Kemperbad, if you could find information on these, I would be willing in the name of Myrmidia to deal with them.

Urgency (and secrecy) is of the upmost importance - all going well, we will be arriving in Kemperbad a few days after you receive this. So to have answers to these questions by then would allow us to make good time.
